Role Overview We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to build and operate high-concurrency backend systems for users in Singapore and remote markets. This role is well suited to an engineer who has designed scalable services, worked with distributed systems, and ideally has exposure to payments, fraud, credit risk, transaction monitoring, or other risk-sensitive platforms. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain reliable backend services, APIs, and data flows that support high-volume, low-latency use cases. Own backend architecture decisions across service boundaries, storage, queues, caching, observability, and failure handling. Improve system performance, concurrency handling, resilience, and operational readiness through profiling, load testing, monitoring, and incident follow-up. Partner with product, risk, compliance, data, and operations stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure and maintainable backend solutions. Contribute to engineering standards, code reviews, testing strategy, deployment practices, and technical documentation. Must-Have Requirements Strong professional experience as a Backend Engineer, with evidence of owning production services at meaningful scale. Hands-on proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, C#, Node.js, or Rust. Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, database design, API design, caching, message queues, and cloud infrastructure. Experience building observable and reliable services, including metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, and incident response practices. Strong engineering judgment around correctness, security, data integrity, and trade-offs in high-throughput systems. Ability to work effectively in a Singapore-based or remote setup with clear written communication and strong ownership. Nice-to-Have Experience in payments, fintech, fraud prevention, risk scoring, transaction processing, banking infrastructure, or regulated environments. Experience with event-driven architecture, ledger systems, idempotency, reconciliation, or real-time decisioning platforms. Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, GCP, Azure, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, or similar production infrastructure. Prior experience mentoring engineers, improving technical standards, or leading cross-functional backend projects. Work Mode and Compensation This role can be based in Singapore or performed remotely, depending on candidate location and team overlap needs. The suggested compensation range is SGD 120,000–180,000 annual base, with final compensation depending on experience, location, scope, and benefits structure.
